Botswana President Masisi Honors Late Hage Geingob as a True Friend and Partner


GABORONE, Botswana — During the final memorial service on Saturday, Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi paid tribute to the late President Hage Geingob of Namibia, celebrating his significant contributions to strengthening the relationship between the two nations. Masisi highlighted Geingob’s role in facilitating a bilateral agreement that allows citizens of both countries to use their national identity cards for cross-border travel, underscoring the ease and trust established between Botswana and Namibia under Geingob’s leadership.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Geingob’s support and partnership were invaluable in building the exceptional bonds that currently exist between their countries and peoples. He praised the late president for laying a strong foundation upon which future relations and friendship between Botswana and Namibia can continue to grow and flourish. Masisi expressed his admiration for Geingob’s dedication to the development of their nations and his commitment to Pan-Africanism and multilateralism on a global scale.



Masisi fondly remembered the numerous meetings and discussions they had, focusing on the challenges their countries faced and their united efforts to overcome them for the benefit of their people. He commended Geingob’s vision for shared prosperity and his impactful sacrifices that have left a lasting positive influence on the relationship between Botswana and Namibia.



The late President Hage Geingob is set to be buried at Heroes’ Acre in Windhoek on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between the two neighboring countries.
