Bonikuy Primary School Students Reap Benefits of School Garden Initiative

Bonikuy: Students at Bonikuy Primary School harvested produce from their school garden as part of a presidential initiative aimed at enhancing vocational education.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this effort is aligned with the "Quality Education" initiative, which seeks to incorporate vocational training into the educational curriculum, encouraging projects such as school gardens to promote self-employment skills among students.

The initiative has successfully introduced students to agriculture, providing them with hands-on experience in planting and plant care. Fabrice Bay©, the director of Bonikuy public primary school, highlighted the importance of the program. "The students are no longer content with just learning to read and count, they are being introduced to a concrete trade that can be useful to them in the future," he stated. Bay© expressed gratitude towards teachers and students for their dedication to the project, noting the symbolic significance of the harvested produce as a testament to teamwork and resilience.

The success of the Bonikuy school garden could serve as an example for other schools in the Basic Education District (CEB). By integrating vocational training into the educational system, the presidential initiative aims to strengthen education and foster entrepreneurship from an early age, paving the way for a more self-reliant future for students.
