Bondoukuy Workers’ Association Hosts Delayed Labor Day to Foster Community and Security Force Relations

Bondoukuy: The Bondoukuy Workers' Association organized a delayed Labor Day celebration on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Bondoukuy, featuring sports, civic, and recreational activities aimed at promoting social cohesion and strengthening ties between the population, workers, and security forces. The event commenced with a popular 5km race, drawing many participants and fostering an atmosphere of community spirit.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the day's activities included a group aerobics session designed to encourage interaction among the different social components of the community. Zita Laurent Bicaba, president of the Bondoukuy Workers' Association, expressed gratitude for the strong mobilization of participants and presented the program of activities. He officially welcomed the national gendarmerie brigade, which was installed to replace the National Police in the town since May 4, 2026.

Lazare Bado, President of the special delegation of the municipality of Bondoukuy, praised the initiative of the Workers' Association as a means to enhance social cohesion and community living. He acknowledged the dedication of the organizers to social stability and introduced the new gendarmerie brigade commander and the deputy captain of the road gendarmerie squadron.

The organizers emphasized that the initiative was designed to improve collaboration between the new security forces and local populations, highlighting the importance of social cohesion for stability and community resilience. The event featured various recreational and sporting activities, culminating in an evening of festive entertainment with a public dance and moments of collective celebration.
