Bomet, Kenya—Vocational Training College (VTC) students in Bomet County are set to benefit from a sponsorship program, with Sh. 25 million allocated towards bursaries and scholarships.
According to Kenya News Agency, the program has contributed to a steady increase in enrollment in the county’s 33 VTCs. Since the program’s inception seven years ago, the number of trainees has risen from 4,640 to 5,383.
Speaking at Silibwet Stadium on Saturday during the college county ball games final competition, Prof. Barchok stated that insufficient school fees should no longer deter individuals from acquiring skills and talents leading to self-employment. He added that his administration is committed to channeling resources in a timely manner to support the VTCs and confirmed that adequate instructors have been employed to cater to the increasing number of trainees.
While acknowledging the achievements of Tegat and Embwen VTCs for winning men’s and women’s football respectively, the governor encouraged students to further their education and aspire to be job creators in their respective fields.
