Bomet Central Cracks Down on Organized Mugging Gang

Bomet, Kenya – The Bomet Central security team has successfully dismantled an organized gang accused of a series of muggings in Bomet town. Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Victor Kisachi, in a recent media briefing, confirmed the arrests of four suspects by officers from the Kenya Police Service, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against local crime.

According to Kenya News Agency, implicated in recent burglaries, were arraigned in court following thorough investigations. The crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to apprehend remaining gang members. Kisachi noted a rise in mugging incidents, particularly targeting businesspeople and night-time revellers. These attacks, often involving valuables being snatched, have caused growing concern among residents.

However, Kisachi revealed that most of the apprehended suspects are teenagers, with a worrying inclination towards drugs and illicit brew. This insight has prompted intensified operations against illicit brews and drugs across the sub-county. Kisachi attributed the spike in criminal activities to drug abuse and alcoholism, leading to idle behavior and subsequent crimes like mugging.

In response to these challenges, Kisachi has directed officers to arrest anyone found loitering suspiciously in town and has tasked local chiefs with curbing the brewing and consumption of illicit alcohol in their jurisdictions. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting information related to illicit brews and drug abuse, viewing community involvement as crucial in the broader effort to combat crime.
