OUAGADOUGOU: In a heartfelt gesture aimed at spreading joy during the holiday season, the Bogodogo University Hospital Center (CHU-B) celebrated its 8th annual solidarity day by distributing food and gifts to children and indigent patients. The event, which took place on Tuesday, was designed to bring comfort and smiles to those spending the festive period in hospital.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of CHU-B, Seydou Nombr©, emphasized the importance of the celebration for hospitalized children who cannot be at home for Christmas. The ceremony aimed to fill the holiday season with meaning through the distribution of gifts and essential items to children and patients in need.
Nombr© highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that the hospital's gesture included providing rice, toys, soap, biscuits, sweets, sheets, clothes, and food. He expressed that the act of giving extends beyond mere provision, serving to convey hope and remind recipients that they are not alone.
The celebration also included a tour of the hospital to encourage staff on duty and to welcome the first newborns of the year. Pediatrician Dr. Catherine Ou©draogo applauded the hospital's management for their efforts, noting that the donations brought smiles back to the faces of pediatric patients.
Dr. Ou©draogo, who is the acting head of pediatrics, stressed the importance of continuing such initiatives for the future well-being of the community. Beneficiaries like Sanata Sampeb©go expressed gratitude, acknowledging that the gifts would significantly boost the morale and health of their children.
