Bogande Population Celebrates Second Day of Customs and Traditions

Bogande: The people of the commune of Bogande, Gnagna province, gathered this Thursday at the royal palace of His Majesty Yempaabou Lankoande, chief of the canton of Bogande, to celebrate the Day of Customs and Traditions, established since March 6, 2024, by the Burkinabe government.



According to Burkina Information Agency, this day, dedicated to the preservation of indigenous cultural values, was marked by four highlights. First, the official appearance of His Majesty Yempaabou Lankoande, accompanied by a ritual sacrifice intended to implore the spirits of the ancestors for peace and cohesion in Burkina Faso.



The people who came in large numbers then proceeded to the customary greetings and to pay allegiance to the customary authority, in an atmosphere marked by respect and solemnity.



In his speech, the prefect, president of the special municipal delegation of Bogande, Taugolo Pare welcomed the government initiative which allows for the promotion of local cultural identities and the strengthening of community life through the recognition of traditional institutions.



Finally, participants were treated to a guided tour of the exhibition of traditional pharmacopoeia products, demonstrating ancestral know-how in the field of health.



The Day of Customs and Traditions is part of a national dynamic of reappropriation of Burkinabe sociocultural values, with a view to strengthening the resilience of communities in the face of current challenges.
