Bogandé Community Raises 5 Million FCFA for Burkina Faso’s Patriotic Support Fund to Combat Terrorism


OUAGADOUGOU — The citizens of Bogandé, located in Burkina Faso’s Eastern region, have collectively contributed 5 million FCFA to the Patriotic Support Fund, a national initiative aimed at combating terrorism. The fund’s efforts were bolstered by this contribution, which was officially handed over in a ceremony in Ouagadougou.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the check was presented on Friday to Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama, the president of the management committee of the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP). The event was attended by notable figures, including Larba Yarga, a member of the Constitutional Council and former Minister of Justice.



The Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that, as of August 30, 2024, the Patriotic Support Fund has accumulated over 10 million FCFA, with contributions continuing to grow. The fund has set a target of 100 billion FCFA to be mobilized by year’s end and has already secured over 85 billion FCFA in donations.



Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama, who also serves as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, expressed gratitude to the donors and reassured them that the funds would be diligently administered to support the nation’s counter-terrorism efforts effectively.
