BODIVA Trading Volume Reaches 494.72 Billion Kwanzas in June

Luanda: Trading volume on the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA) totaled 494.72 billion kwanzas in June of this year, representing a 9.37% increase and a 9.98% year-on-year rise.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the number of trades executed during this period stood at 4,132, representing a monthly decrease of 0.96%, despite a year-on-year increase of 69.69%.

The report notes that the growth in traded value was primarily driven by the performance of the Repurchase Agreement Market (MOR), which saw an 84.00% increase compared to the previous month, fueled by intensified interbank treasury management.

It highlights that Non-Adjustable Treasury Bonds (OT-NR) accounted for the largest share of transactions in the regulated market, representing 83.74% of the total volume, equivalent to 414.30 billion kwanzas. Foreign Currency Treasury Bonds (OT-ME) followed with 15.22%, corresponding to 72.32 billion kwanzas.

Among BODIVA trading agents, UREA was the most active on the buy side (20.32%) in June, while HCPS led on the sell side (27.27%).

The CMC reports that 76.84% of financial instrument transactions were carried out by institutional investors, with the remaining 23.16% executed by non-institutional investors. Compared to the previous month, the report reveals a decrease in the participation of non-institutional investors.

The banking sector led trading during this period in terms of both purchases and sales, accounting for 46.03% and 76.42% of the volume, respectively. Investment funds also stood out in purchase transactions, representing 22.76% of the total, while the Public Debt Management Unit (UGD) accounted for 12.49% of sales.

A total of 1,851 investors participated during the period under review, representing a 20.66% increase compared to the number of investors who participated in the previous month's trading. Of these investors, 87.15% were individuals and 12.85% were companies or institutions.

However, 87.80% of transactions in BODIVA markets during June took place in the over-the-counter (OTC) segment, while 12.20% occurred in the exchange segment. Additionally, in the OTC market, 50.64% of purchases were made by the banking sector and 49.36% by other sectors. In the exchange market, the banking sector accounted for 12.84% of trading, with other sectors accounting for 87.16%.

Meanwhile, market capitalization stood at approximately 4,091.37 billion, representing a 3.96% decrease compared to the previous month. The report attributes this trend primarily to the depreciation of shares in four of the five listed companies, excluding BODIVA itself.
