Bobo-Dioulasso: The Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, urged on Saturday in Bobo-Dioulasso, during the official launch of the Secondary Cities Mobility and Development Project (PMDUVS) in three regions of Burkina Faso, the companies awarded the contracts to work night and day, in order to avoid inconvenience among the population as the rainy season approaches.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso faces environmental and human challenges, with past seasons experiencing torrential rains that caused damage in cities such as Bobo. Minister Sorgho called on companies responsible for constructing sanitation and rainwater drainage works to accelerate their efforts to prevent any inconvenience to the population and local residents, especially with the rainy season approaching.
The minister stated that, following the instructions of President Ibrahim Traor©, the government launched the Secondary Cities Mobility and Development Project (PMDUVS) on April 5, 2025, for the cities of Sya, Kaya, and Ouahigouya. The project is set to last 12 months, focusing on areas that experienced significant damage during last year’s rainy season.
Minister Sorgho highlighted the construction of collectors to efficiently manage water drainage in the towns affected by the project, aiming to prevent recurring flooding. He also noted that sectors 7 and 8, previously excluded from the sanitation project, have now been included on Captain Traor©’s instructions.
The minister emphasized the accountability of the company in charge of the work, stating it must take necessary measures to prevent flooding during the upcoming rainy season.
