Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso—The Higher Authority for State Control and the Fight against Corruption (ASCE-LC) leveraged the platform of the 21st National Culture Week (SNC), held from April 27 to May 4, 2024, to engage the public in its anti-corruption efforts. The agency set up an interactive stand at the event’s craft and trade fair in Bobo-Dioulasso to educate and mobilize attendees.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the State Controller and Head of the National Prevention Strategy Department at ASCE-LC, the stand served as a crucial part of their strategy to enhance public understanding of corruption’s challenges and ways to combat it. The stand provided leaflets and flyers, and facilitated direct interactions between the public and ASCE-LC representatives, where visitors could ask questions and express concerns.
Drabo emphasized the importance of cultural values such as integrity and honesty in the fight against corruption, noting that these values were traditionally more prevalent and effective in curbing corrupt practices. He stated that the stand aimed to revive these values among citizens to aid in preventing and combating corruption.
The week-long participation also included a panel discussion on cultural values and corruption, radio broadcasts, and collaborations with local media to broaden the campaign’s reach. Drabo underlined the importance of community involvement in the fight against corruption, calling for collective action to eradicate it.
The ASCE-LC’s engagement at the SNC reflects its commitment to making anti-corruption efforts a national cause, with Drabo expressing satisfaction with the outcomes of their activities during the event.
