Bobo-Dioulasso Civil Society Expresses Support for Transitional Regime

Bobo-Dioulasso – On Saturday, December 2, 2023, civil society organizations (CSOs) in Bobo-Dioulasso organized a march to show their support for the transitional regime led by President Ibrahim Traoré. This event reflects the regime’s growing support in the Hauts-Bassins region, particularly in Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the march, led by various CSOs and associative structures, began at Tiéfo Amoro Square and proceeded through the Hauts-Bassins governorate, accompanied by the sounds of motorcycle horns and music. During the march, participants delivered a letter of thanks to the president of the transition.

Kolé Tony, the spokesperson for the CSOs, stated that the support march was initiated by the CSOs of Bobo-Dioulasso, specifically by the collective “Generation Burkina Nouveau Benkadi” (GBNB), which includes about fifty structures. He praised President Traoré for the defense and security forces’ response to the Djibo attack on November 26, 2023, and for victories achieved across the nation.

Mr. Tony highlighted the importance of conducting the war effectively while also focusing on stimulating the socio-economic development of Burkina Faso. He emphasized that President Traoré represents hope for both Burkina Faso and an entire generation.

The demonstrators also expressed admiration for the dedication of the defense and security forces, voicing confidence in Burkina Faso’s path towards peace. Additionally, they advocated for extending the transitional period and revising the constitution.
