Bobo-Dioulasso: Artist Kys Presents His New Slam Album

Bobo-dioulasso: Slam artist Kys presented his new album, entirely devoted to slam, this Sunday in Bobo-Dioulasso during a press conference.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the album is composed of ten tracks that explore a variety of themes, drawing on the social and professional realities of Burkina Faso. The tracks include Pourquoi, Yet, La notre, and La grande muette, with the latter paying tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and their families.

Kys explained that The Great Mute symbolizes “all these women who pray to God for a gesture of clemency, so that peace may return.” The artist emphasized that an FDS at the front leaves behind loved ones who live in anguish and uncertainty, highlighting the importance of saluting their courage and resilience.

The album is the result of three years of work and is distinguished by the diversity of its sounds. Kys has combined slam with rhythms inspired by local music to offer an artistic experience rooted in Burkinabe culture while remaining open to the world.

The artist claims that his lyrics are informed by real experiences and testimonies collected from people he encounters in his daily life. “I talk about what I experience, what I see, and what others experience,” he explained to reporters.

The album is available on a USB stick for 5,000 CFA francs. Kys invited the public to purchase the album, not only to enjoy slam poetry but also to support the messages of peace and solidarity it conveys.

The artist is planning a series of stage performances in the coming weeks to promote the album in several cities across the country.
