OUAGADOUGOU – The Federation of Voluntary Blood Donor Associations of Burkina Faso (FADOSAB-BF) has expressed distress over recent skepticism concerning the authenticity of President Ibrahim Traoré’s public blood donation on June 14, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President of FADOSAB-BF, allegations that the blood donation images were from a previous year are unfounded. He confirmed that President Traoré did donate blood at the Koulouba Palace as part of World Blood Donor Day, witnessed by himself and other officials including Dr. Désiré Nezien, director general of the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS). Dr. Nezien, who was appointed just three months prior to the donation, was present, which FADOSAB-BF argues further discredits the claims of outdated images. The controversy has cast a shadow over the federation’s efforts to promote voluntary blood donation, prompting them to consider legal action against those spreading false information.
