Katima Mulilo: In-form Black Hawks are looking to secure a return to the North East First Division, thanks to their impressive performance in the first round of the Zambezi Second Division Football League, which they currently head.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the league returns this weekend for its second round to distinguish genuine contenders from pretenders. In a recent interview with Nampa, Black Hawks gaffer, Hartley Tiyebulyo, said his team is prepared to seal their title plan and a promotional play-off berth to the first division. “We are prepared to win the league and return to the top tier while striving to achieve the impossible record of avoiding defeat,” he said.

To achieve that feat, Black Hawks first have a score to settle over the weekend with opponents that gave them a run for their money during the first round. They entertain Space Age on Saturday before battling Rocano King Rangers on Sunday. The Hawks were unable to secure full points against their two rivals in the first round, f
inishing both matches with one-all draws. They sit at the top of the league with 29 points from nine wins and two draws after 11 games.

Tiyebulyo said the team is prepared for the weekend encounters as they seek to correct past mistakes and collect the maximum points. Space Age coach, David Avi, said they are not afraid of Black Hawks as they intend to spoil their title and invincible record ambitions. He said any team can win the league, with Space Age set to go into the weekend with a winning mentality.

Black Hawks cannot afford any missteps as Bush Bucks are closing in on the title, trailing behind with 24 points. Bush Bucks will play Oryza Sativa on Saturday and Sahara on Sunday. Saturday will also see Blue Chiefs confronting Black Buffaloes, with Imore battling Rocano King Rangers, while Namib Chiefs host Bright Stars. On Sunday, Black Buffaloes will play Namib Chiefs, Sahara face Bush Bucks, and Bright Stars lock horns with Oryza Sativa. All games are scheduled for the Katima Mulilo Stadium.
