Bittou Women Mobilize to Strengthen Citizen Monitoring Amid Crisis

BITTOU — In an effort to reinforce community vigilance and peace, the women of Bittou convened at the town hall on Friday, July 19, 2024, for a crucial consultation meeting. Organized by the Bittou citizen monitoring coordination, the session aimed to define and enhance the women’s roles in crisis resolution and community safety.

According to Burkina Information Agency, coordinator of the citizen watch in Bittou, the meeting focused on empowering local women to support the FDS (Defense and Security Forces) and the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) in identifying and reporting suspicious activities. The women pledged to be proactive in the citizen monitoring process, which is critical for restoring peace and stability in Bittou and across Burkina Faso. The attendees, including those displaced internally by ongoing conflicts, showed significant interest and commitment to the cause, indicating a strong community resolve.
