BITTOU - The inaugural Bittou inter-service maracana football tournament kicked off on August 24, 2024, bringing together various service sectors in the commune for a two-day event aimed at fostering social cohesion and resilience through sports. The tournament was held at the football field of the multipurpose hall in Bittou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was initiated following a request for a gala match by the youth of Bittou to the local department heads. The theme for this year's tournament, "football, a factor of social cohesion and resilience in the commune of Bittou," highlighted the role of sports in uniting different community sectors. The tournament enjoyed the patronage of Mohamed Lamine Diabaté, president of the special delegation of the commune of Bittou, and the co-sponsorship of the head of the Bittou customs office.
The competition featured spirited matches, including a face-off between the teams of transit agents and transporters, where the transit agents emerged victorious with a score of 2-0. Additionally, a gala match saw the department heads winning against their challengers with a score of 1-0. Throughout the event, speakers emphasized the importance of unity, resilience, and peace within Burkina Faso and particularly in Bittou.
