Bishop of Kaya Announces Day of Mourning and Prayer Following Barsalogho Attack

Barsalogho, Burkina Faso - In response to the recent terrorist attack in Barsalogho, the bishop of Kaya, Monsignor Théophile Naré, has declared a day of mourning and prayer to be held on Wednesday. The day is set aside to honor the victims of the attack and is intended for individuals of all faiths.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Monsignor Naré emphasized the importance of reflection and communal support during this time of loss. The bishop urged the community to use the day not only for mourning but also for spiritual action aimed at preventing future tragedies. “We must speak and act so that, with the help of God, this will never happen again,” Monsignor Naré stated in his letter.

The day of mourning will conclude with a Stations of the Cross, organized by the Basic Catholic Community (CCB), as a gesture of penance. From Thursday to Saturday, the church will hold Masses, adorations of the Blessed Sacrament, and rosary sessions to pray for the conversion of hearts and to atone for the violence against human life.

Monsignor Naré expressed his personal sorrow over the events and called on his followers to persevere with hope despite the challenges posed by such acts of terror.
