Birgui School Claims Victory in Thrilling OSCEP 2026 Final

Sandbondtenga: Birgui school emerged victorious in a nail-biting finish against Louda C school, winning 5-4 on penalties in the final of the 2026 Organization of Sport and Culture in Primary Schools (OSCEP) within the Boussouma basic education district. The match marked the end of a series of inter-school competitions, which concluded on April 22, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Birgui school's triumph came after a fiercely contested football match, with the team walking away with a trophy, 50,000 francs, a ball, and a set of jerseys as their prize. Louda C, finishing second, received 25,000 francs, a ball, and a set of jerseys. This victory positions Birgui school as the successor to the previous year's champions, Naaba Wobgo A team.

The 2026 OSCEP tournament carried the theme "Sport and Culture, Factors of Our Unity," and was highlighted by displays of fair play, fraternity, and camaraderie, according to the organizers, which enhanced student cohesion. Besides football, the event featured women's cycling competitions, sprint races for both girls and boys, and artistic performances, including traditional dance, playback, and recitals.

At the final ceremony, awards were given to the best-performing students of the season. Sibiri Ou©draogo, head of the Boussouma basic education district, lauded the spirit of fair play and unity that characterized the competitions. Meanwhile, Madjoa Lompo, president of the special municipal delegation of Boussouma and representative of the Kouls© region's governor, emphasized the role of sport and culture in holistic child development and applauded the dedication of educational stakeholders to fostering unity.

Godfather Zakaria Sawadogo and godmother C©line Drabo n©e Ou©draogo encouraged educators to nurture the children as ambassadors of peace. The event was attended by educational authorities from Sandbondtenga province, customary and administrative authorities from Boussouma, and numerous members of the public who supported the initiative.
