A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday in Tunis between the Sidi Thabet technology park, known as “BiotechPole Sidi Thabet” and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. The agreement concerns cooperation in implementing training and capacity-building programmes in the biotechnology field applied to health and pharmaceutical industries.
It is part of the “Arab-African Trade Bridges Programme (AATB)”, a multi-donor, multi-country and multi-organisation programme, launched in 2017, by ITFC with the objective of facilitating the implementation of projects of common interest and the pursuit of economic growth opportunities between companies in the two Arab and African regions.
Dedicated to biotechnology, pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical industries, life sciences and engineering applied to health, “BiotechPole Sidi Thabet”, seeks to strengthen the partnership approaches between three key actors of innovation: companies, R&D institutions and training organisations.
The ITFC has mobilised, since its creation in 2008, funding of around 2 billion dollars, mainly for the strategic energy sector.
