Accra: A Burkinabe delegation in consultation with the Commissioner General of Revenue of Ghana
The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ghana, H.E. David KABRE, led a Burkinabe delegation in a working session with the Commissioner General of Revenue of Ghana, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, on March 30, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation included the Directors General of Customs, the Burkinabe Shippers’ Council, Land and Maritime Transport, Faso Transit and Logistics, along with representatives from umbrella transport organizations. The delegation aimed to address the significant concerns of the sector’s stakeholders.
The dialogue centered on issues related to the transit of goods, such as the auctioning of goods in transit benefiting the Ghanaian state, tax application, the lack of interconnection between the customs systems of the two nations, procedural complexities, and role confusion among different actors.
Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the Commissioner General of Revenue of Ghana, alongside his team, including the Director General of Customs, Mr. Aaron Kanor, attentively considered the issues presented.
Several concerns were tackled with immediate solutions during the discussions. Additionally, a meeting has been scheduled between the Directors General of Customs from both countries to further explore the interconnection of customs systems and other raised challenges, aiming for cooperative and lasting resolutions.
