Bethlehem drug dealer sentenced

Hawks Operation Deep Clean has swept the streets of Bethlehem clean of a drug dealer. On Wednesday 28 June 2023, Kenneth “Paul” Nwobo (37) was sentenced to six years imprisonment suspended for three years by the Bethlehem Magistrates` Court for dealing in methcathinone (kat). In addition, he was ordered to pay a fine of R50 000 in cash.

Nwobo was arrested on 28 March 2022 during a clandestine Hawks’ operation conducted by the Bloemfontein Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Bethlehem. The hard-working detectives successfully opposed his bail. The accused was incarcerated until his sentencing on 28 June 2023.

The Free State Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Major General Mokgadi Bokaba has commended officers involved in Operation Deep Clean for their unmistakable dedication to saving South Africa from drugs. “Drugs are a menace to society, it destroy young lives and tear families apart. Our fight against drugs in towns such as Bethlehem will be intensified,” she commits.
