Berlin Hosts Cultural Event to Mark 75 Years of People’s Republic of China


BERLIN — A cultural celebration titled “Written in the Sky: My China Story” took place in Berlin on Saturday, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, featuring performances and speeches that highlighted ongoing cultural exchanges.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the event drew nearly 200 participants, including officials from the Chinese Embassy in Germany, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education, and the Association of German China Societies. Attendees also included teachers and students from various schools and universities, along with members of the German Burg Chinese Chorus.



The German Burg Chinese Chorus delivered renditions of classical songs such as “To the Cloud” and “Jasmine Flower,” performed in both Chinese and German. The event also included a special video message from astronauts aboard the Shenzhou-18 space station, emphasizing the global reach and inspirational potential of China’s cultural and scientific achievements.



In his address, Chinese Ambassador to Germany Deng Hongbo spoke of the deep cultural ties between China and Germany, stressing the importance of mutual appreciation and ongoing learning between the two nations. He noted the critical role of international cooperation and exchange in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the current era.



Highlighting personal connections to the cultural festivities, Ivan Pavlovic, a chorus member studying Modern East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, shared his experiences: “My story with China is more than an academic connection. The bond has shaped my life in many ways and continues to challenge and enrich me in new and unexpected ways,” he remarked.



The event in Berlin is part of a series of global celebrations, with similar events planned at the United Nations headquarters and in countries such as the United States, Canada, and Australia.
