Berlin Hosts Cultural Event to Celebrate Chinese Cultural Ties and Upcoming National Anniversary


BERLIN — “Written in the Sky: My China Story,” a cultural celebration, took place in Berlin on Saturday, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the event saw participation from officials of the Chinese Embassy in Germany, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education, and the Association of German China Societies. Nearly 200 attendees, including teachers and students from various educational institutions such as the German Burg Chinese Chorus, and schools and universities across Germany, gathered for the celebration.



The German Burg Chinese Chorus highlighted the event with performances of classic Chinese songs like “To the Cloud” and “Jasmine Flower,” sung in both Chinese and German. Additionally, a special video message from the astronauts aboard Shenzhou-18 at the space station was screened to the audience.



Chinese Ambassador to Germany, Deng Hongbo, addressed the assembly, noting the deep cultural connections between China and Germany. He stressed the importance of increased global exchange and cooperation, particularly in a time filled with both opportunities and challenges.



One of the event’s participants, Ivan Pavlovic, a chorus member and student at the University of Duisburg-Essen, shared his personal connection to China, stating, “My story with China is more than an academic connection. The bond has shaped my life in many ways and continues to challenge and enrich me in new and unexpected ways.”



The event in Berlin is part of a series titled “Written in the Sky: My China Story” that will also take place at the United Nations headquarters and in countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia.
