Cotonou – Financial rating agency Standard and Poor’s (SandP Global) has upgraded the outlook for Benin’s long-term debt rating from “stable” to “positive,” while maintaining its sovereign rating at B+.
According to Africa News Agency,, Benin is the only African country to receive this rating. SandP Global attributes this to the country’s ability to meet its financial commitments and anticipates that Benin will experience growth in the coming three years despite challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, and deteriorating border security with its Sahelian neighbors.
