Benguela Hosts 9th National Conference on Science and Technology

Benguela: The province of Benguela is set to host the 9th National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT), scheduled from December 3rd to 5th. The biannual event is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI) to foster discussions on Angola’s scientific and technological progress.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the conference is themed ‘Angola 50 years: promoting development based on science, technology and innovation’, aligning with the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of National Independence on November 11th. The CNCT aims to share scientific and technological advancements, expecting participation from around a thousand delegates this year.

The event, in collaboration with the Council of Rectors of Universities of Angola (CRUANG), will also feature the 4th Fair of Ideas, Inventions, Innovation and Technological-Based Entrepreneurship (FIEBaT). The fair anticipates 100 exhibitors, highlighting innovations and entrepreneurship by young Ang
olans.

The CNCT and FIEBaT target the national science and technology ecosystem, including educators, researchers, inventors, creators, exhibitors, and representatives from Higher Education Institutions, Scientific Research and Development Institutions, public and private sectors, and government entities.

The events offer a platform to present and discuss scientific research outcomes, as well as to promote and reward innovative products, services, and processes with economic and social potential for sustainable development in Angola. They serve as a testament to national intellectual and creative capabilities, emphasizing science and technology as pillars of national development.

The National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT) and the Fair of Ideas, Inventions, Innovation and Technology-Based Entrepreneurship (FIEBaT) are key events in Angola’s scientific and technological landscape, strategically organized by MESCTI. Since their inception in 2009 and 2019 respectively, these biennial events have
become central to promoting knowledge, innovation, and scientific development in the country.
