Benguela Governor Advocates for Community Sports Development

Benguela: Benguela provincial governor Manuel Nunes Júnior, on Sunday in the municipality of Dombe Grande highlighted the role of community sports as a tool for inclusion and social cohesion. The governor was speaking after the final soccer match of the 1st Old School Super Cup of the Benguela province, where the Camioneiros do Lobito team beat Unio do Dombe Grande 2-1. According to Angola Press News Agency, Manuel Nunes Júnior stated that the local government will work with community sports practitioners aiming to contribute to their development. He emphasized that the match displayed high levels of technical, tactical, and organizational skills, noting the impressive physical condition of the older players. The governor remarked that the public's enthusiasm clearly demonstrated the power of community sport. He highlighted the large attendance as evidence of the significance of such initiatives, announcing that the government would continue to support these projects to revitalize and promote sports within communities. Manuel Nunes Júnior reported discussions with the provincial sports director about plans to ensure each municipality has a soccer field. He assured that efforts will be undertaken to make this initiative viable and to provide access to basic sports equipment.
