Beijing: The Beijing municipal government has unveiled a comprehensive action plan aimed at expanding the city's medical device industry to reach an overall scale of 50 billion yuan (approximately 7 billion U.S. dollars) by the year 2026. This strategic move is part of Beijing's broader efforts to position itself as a leading hub for medical innovation and advanced healthcare solutions. According to Namibia Press Agency, the action plan was collaboratively developed by the city's bureau of economy and information technology, alongside the health commission. The plan outlines the establishment of industrial clusters focusing on the production of high-end medical equipment, high-value medical consumables, and efficient diagnostic products over the next three years, from 2024 to 2026. The action plan identifies key areas for development, including high-end medical equipment such as digital subtraction angiography X-ray machines, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation systems, and electromagnetic navigation system s for tumor radiotherapy. Additionally, the plan emphasizes the production of high-value medical consumables, like implantable cardiac pacemakers, and the integration of artificial intelligence in medical devices. A significant component of the plan is the strengthening of cooperation mechanisms among several core departments and leading industrial zones in Beijing. This collaborative effort aims to accelerate the application and adoption of innovative products in hospitals, thereby enhancing the city's healthcare infrastructure and service delivery.
