Bazèga Celebrates Dikoudogo Émeline’s Victory in the 6th Primary School Reading Competition


Doulougou, Bazèga Province – The 6th edition of the primary school reading competition concluded on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Gana ‘A’ school in Doulougou, Bazèga province, with Dikoudogo Émeline from Bélégré school emerging as the winner. The event saw participation from 14 second-year elementary class (CE2) students representing seven schools within the Doulougou basic education district. Competitors, consisting of one girl and one boy from each school, underwent two rounds of competition, focusing on reading and written comprehension.



According to Burkina Information Agency, a focal point for the French NGO ‘Peuples solidaires’ (PSo 05), which is a partner of some schools in the town and organizer of the competition, the event is designed to encourage primary school students to engage more with reading. Émile Yanogo, the head of the Doulougou basic education district, lauded the organizers and participants for fostering a culture of reading in schools, highlighting its importance in educational development.



Émeline achieved a remarkable score of 9 out of 10, with her nearest competitors from the Kagamzincé and Goumcé schools scoring 8.87 and 8.50, respectively. The competition aims to promote literacy and self-education among students, with the top three winners receiving prizes. In addition to the winners, all other participants were also rewarded with educational materials, including novels, school bags, notebooks, and rechargeable solar lamps.
