Ouagadougou: The provincial reforestation campaign in Baz¨ga has been officially launched with the planting of 500 seedlings in the village of Gana, Doulougou commune. The event took place at the botanical garden of the Saint Dominic University of West Africa (USDAO), marking a significant step towards ecological restoration in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch was organized under the theme "My institution, my grove," bringing together various stakeholders, including provincial authorities, religious and customary leaders, university officials, and students. The Water and Forestry services of Baz¨ga provided technical oversight, ensuring the planting of local species such as mahogany, n©r©, plum, moringa, raisin tree, tamarind, and baobab on a one-hectare fenced site.

Provincial Secretary General Wossol¨me Clarisse Denni emphasized the symbolic importance of choosing the USDAO site for the ceremony. "It represents a powerful symbol because it is a crucible of knowledge that contributes to the environmental education of the country's future leaders," Denni stated. She further expressed that the reforestation campaign aims to initiate a sustainable ecological restoration process, protect degraded lands, and enhance community resilience to climate change.
