Baskuy Health District Honors Top Health Facilities for Quality Care

Ouagadougou: As part of its inaugural Days of Excellence, the Baskuy health district awarded the best health facilities in its jurisdiction on Saturday, recognizing their outstanding quality in health care delivery to the community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place in the 1st district of Ouagadougou, where health centers such as Gounghin 6, sector 8 (formerly sector 10), and Gounghin 7 were ranked first, second, and third, respectively. Each facility received an Ouaga-Bobo plane ticket provided by the national civil aviation agency, a monetary award of 25,000 CFA francs, and certificates of recognition.

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of Maurice Konat©, president of the special delegation of the commune of Ouagadougou, at the town hall of district 2. The event was graced by health personnel and Technical Financial Partners (PTF) and was patronized by His Majesty Kamsong Naaba-Kiiba. Special prizes were also given to health structures and associations contributing to health care promotion.

Dr. Ursule Bambara, Chief Medical Officer of the Baskuy Health District, highlighted the event's purpose as a celebration of excellence and an acknowledgment of the health center workers' efforts to meet community health needs. She reported that the district currently has 105 health facilities, including 12 public ones, with 303 health workers. It includes 60 private centers and 33 public host training centers, serving an estimated population of 184,000 inhabitants.

Dr. Bambara emphasized the significant progress made in areas like malaria control, integrated management of childhood illnesses, maternal care, family planning, and preventive care. She attributed these achievements to the dedication of health professionals who work in challenging conditions to provide care to the population. She also urged authorities, the public, and TFPs to support health personnel in building a resilient health system.

The representative of His Majesty, Kamsong-Naaba Kiba, underscored the day's purpose as recognizing the efforts of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in health, who are instrumental in ensuring the community's well-being. He acknowledged the tireless work of Baskuy's health workers in saving lives, preventing diseases, and providing necessary care to the sick, describing their mission as noble and sacred.
