Banyana Banyana Coach Ellis Announces Squad for WAFCON Qualifier Against Burkina Faso

South Africa – Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has announced the final squad for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Burkina Faso. The South African senior women’s team, sponsored by Sasol, is set to play two crucial matches against the West African team.

According to South African Football Association, Banyana Banyana will first face Burkina Faso away on Thursday, 30 November 2023, followed by a home match at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Monday, 4 December. Coach Ellis expressed her confidence in the selected players and stressed the importance of performing well in the first game to ease the pressure of the home match. She emphasized the team’s preparation, including gathering sufficient information about their opponents.

The team is scheduled to assemble for a training camp on Sunday, 26 November 2023, and will travel early on Monday, 27 November. After returning to South Africa on 2 December, they will prepare for the decisive home match against Burkina Faso on 4 December at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
