Banwa: The High Commissioner Visits the Women’s Training Centers in Solenzo

Banwa: The High Commissioner of the Banwa Province, Sanfinal Joseph Sirima, accompanied by a delegation, visited the various women's training centers in Solenzo on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on the eve of the commemoration of the 169th International Women's Day, High Commissioner Sirima made a field visit to get a firsthand look at the realities of resilient women in their workplaces. Some women are organized into associations, while others work individually, engaging in various activities to support their families.

Training centers for dyeing and weaving for out-of-school women and girls were visited, as well as associations involved in the production, manufacturing, and marketing of non-timber forest products. Mr. Sirima and his delegation were able to see soumbala, shea butter, flour made from red corn and millet, and many other processed consumer goods produced locally in Solenzo.

"We made this visit this morning to encourage you and understand the challenges you face in your work," the High Commissioner told the various women's associations. Women processors of non-timber forest products appealed to administrative authorities for shea and nr tree seedlings to reforest their land, thus ensuring a local supply of raw materials. The provincial coordinator for women, Fatoumata Bintou Wibga, advocated for the fencing and provision of equipment for the women's center.
