Baku: The President of the Provincial Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (COPROSUR), Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, High Commissioner of the Banwa province, initiated the distribution of food aid to 3,500 households on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Solenzo. This initiative took place at the provincial directorate of family and national solidarity's courtyard.
According to Burkina Information Agency, COPROSUR facilitated the distribution of 98.1 tonnes of 25 kg rice, 70 tonnes of 20 kg corn flour, 40 tonnes of 25 kg corn semolina, alongside 150 cartons of pasta, 100 litres of oil, and 10 bags of 25 kg salt. These supplies were allocated to returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Solenzo, and vulnerable hosts within the commune.
During this distribution, each household received two bags of commodities, including a 25 kg bag of rice paired with either a 20 kg bag of corn flour or a 25 kg bag of corn semolina. Additionally, 2.5 liters of oil, four packets of spaghetti, and one kilogram of salt were provided to each family.
The High Commissioner emphasized to beneficiaries that selling the received food aid at local markets is strictly prohibited. One of the recipients, Mariatou S©r©, expressed her gratitude, stating, "I have no husband or children to take care of me. With this bag of rice and flour, I won't starve anymore," she shared with AIB.
