SOLENZO — On Friday, members of the Banwa Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) convened for their first session of 2024 in the Solenzo town hall meeting room, aiming to bolster local governance and development coordination.
According to Burkina Informational Agency, the Top Commissioner of Banwa province and chair of the session, the CCP's primary goal is to foster an environment of collaboration and regular consultation among local actors. This strategy is designed to enhance the synergy of efforts across various sectors, thereby improving the management of sustainable local development initiatives.
The session included detailed presentations on the current security, health, and agricultural situations within the province, which spans an area of 5,400 square kilometers and encompasses 115 villages across six departments. Abdoul Kader Kongzabré, the Secretary-General of Banwa, highlighted the security dynamics, noting that while four departments enjoy relative stability, areas like Solenzo require intensified security measures and the department of Sami is under terrorist influence.
The provincial director in charge of humanitarian action reported on the plight of internally displaced persons in the province, revealing that out of an estimated 45,749 IDPs, 31,940 have received support.
During the session, Raymond Ilboudo, president of the special delegation from the Kouka department, reported on the successes of the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project (PUDTR), which received positive feedback from participants.
Dr. Éloi Tiendrébéogo, representing the Chief Medical Officer of the health district, and the provincial director of agriculture provided updates on their respective sectors, ensuring all participants were well-informed on provincial matters.
The session concluded with remarks from the commander of the 18th BIR based in Solenzo, who discussed anti-terrorism efforts and called for collective action to resolve the ongoing crisis in the province.
