Banwa High Commissioner Oumarou Sandwidi Celebrates Return of Administration to Solenzo

Solenzo – The High Commissioner of Banwa province, Oumarou Sandwidi, expressed his satisfaction with the restoration of public and private administration in Solenzo. This development, highlighted during the national holiday commemorations, marks a significant turn in the area’s recovery from terrorist activities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the return of the administration to Solenzo is a positive sign of the province’s ongoing liberation efforts. “With the current dynamics, we have faith that the entire province will be liberated in the near future,” he stated. The High Commissioner urged the residents of the province to maintain their resilience and share his belief in an ultimate victory.

Solenzo, which faced numerous terrorist attacks in 2021 and 2022, witnessed a turning point when the fighting forces successfully expelled the terrorist groups from the area. The national flag was raised at the high police station on December 31, 2022, symbolizing the return of administrative authority and the internally displaced people. Since then, Solenzo has experienced a resurgence of activity and has become a challenging zone for terrorists.

However, municipalities like Sanaba, Balavé, Sami, and Tansila continue to face sporadic terrorist attacks and threats. Despite these challenges, local authorities remain optimistic that such incidents will soon become a thing of the past, as efforts to stabilize and secure the region continue.
