Solenzo: The women of Solenzo, gathered around their provincial coordinator, organized a collective breaking of the fast for the first time in the history of Solenzo, at the great mosque, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. This collective break brought together traditional leaders, Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, and administrative authorities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, around 6:15 p.m., the High Commissioner, Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, accompanied by some directors and heads of department as well as customary and religious leaders, arrived at the great mosque of Solenzo. The Muslims performed their ablutions while the guests took their seats, waiting for 6:25 p.m., which was the time for breaking the fast in Solenzo.
At the appointed time, the women served water, juice, flatbreads, and cakes to everyone for the breaking of the fast. The provincial coordinator of women, Fatoumata Bintou Wibga, stated that this collective break was to ask for blessings for lasting peace, mutual understanding, and sincere cohesion among the people of the Banwa province.
"It is the woman who unites, it is the same woman who divides; she is capable of separating two twin brothers, two people, or two villages. That is why we wanted this break, to ask for your prayers so that we may be women of peace, to sew the social fabric with a single door of entry and exit," said Fatoumata Bintou Wibga in front of the guests.
In turn, Father ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬°tienne Zagr©, parish priest of Notre Dame de Solenzo, and Sheikh Amade Ouedraogo praised this initiative. Each person offered a prayer for peace in the country, and for tolerance and forgiveness in their hearts. Mr. Sirima urged the women to remain united and stand together to overcome the many challenges ahead, for the well-being of all the people of Banwa province in particular, and Burkina Faso in general.
The ceremony ended with the sharing of a community meal.
