Ouagadougou: Catholic children prayed for their sick classmates who were unable to celebrate Christmas. They asked the Lord, in his love, to grant their classmates health and peace in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the children prayed this Friday, December 26, 2025, at the parish of Our Lady of Solenzo for the health of their sick classmates who missed the celebration of the Nativity. They also invoked the Lord for peace in Burkina Faso in the presence of administrative and customary authorities and representatives of other religious denominations.
The day after Christmas is reserved for Catholic children’s celebration in Solenzo. At church, amidst songs, praise, adoration, and sermons, the children were encouraged to love Jesus and to put into practice his commandments of respecting elders and forbidding theft.
This children’s celebration coincided with the 10th anniversary of Father ‰tienne Zagr©’s ordination as parish priest of Solenzo. On this occasion, the children built nativity scenes for the baby Jesus and received gifts including packets of candy, notebooks, and pens.
A communal meal was served to the many children who came out to celebrate. The High Commissioner of Banwa Province, Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, wished the children a happy holiday and gave them two boxes of biscuits. He also congratulated the priest on his patron saint’s day and his 10 years of priesthood.
