Banknotes with New Designs Hit Bangladeshi Market Ahead of Muslim Festival


Dhaka: The central bank of Bangladesh has released a new series of banknotes themed on the historical and archaeological architecture of the country. The newly-designed banknotes were introduced into circulation through bank branches in capital Dhaka on Monday.



According to Namibia Press Agency, queues at bank branches in Dhaka were seen on the first day that people were able to collect the new banknotes for the Eid al-Adha festival, which will be celebrated here on June 7. The central bank has confirmed that the existing paper notes and metal coins will remain in circulation alongside the new notes.
