Bandari: Bandari Queens FC claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Gor Mahia Queens in the inaugural match of the Women’s National Super League (WNSL), held at Ronald Ngala Stadium on Saturday. The match’s decisive moment came in the 58th minute when Happy Nyadzua of Bandari Queens FC scored the only goal, securing three points for her team.

According to Kenya News Agency, the game was dominated by Bandari Queens FC, who maintained control throughout, while Gor Mahia Queens attempted to leverage counter-attacks. Nyadzua made a significant play by intercepting the ball from the defenders of Gor Mahia, dribbling past two defenders and the goalkeeper to score the winning goal.

This encounter marked the first-ever meeting between Bandari Queens FC and Gor Mahia Queens, a game that was made more challenging by the rainy weather, which rendered the field slippery. Despite the adverse conditions, Bandari Queens FC’s coach, Janet Amuga, expressed satisfaction with her team’s performance. “It was not an easy match for us
, but we tackled the game. We had a lot of opportunities, but we were able to utilize one, so I am happy with the win,” Amuga remarked after the game.

On the other side, Francis Ocholo, the coach of Gor Mahia Queens, was notably disappointed that a single error led to their defeat. “I am disappointed with the mistake we made that awarded them victory, but I am happy with the way my team played, and I hope that we will change for the better moving forward to our next match,” Ochola stated. Looking ahead, Gor Mahia Queens are set to face Gaspo at home, while Bandari Queens will meet Sunderland in an away match next week.
