Mombasa, KENYA – Bandari FC emerged victorious against Nzoia Sugar FC in their FKF Premier League encounter, securing a 1-0 win. The match, held at the KPA Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday, saw Bandari FC clinch the win with a goal from Umar Kasumba in the 26th minute, assisted by James Kinyanjui.

According to Kenya News Agency, the victory was a significant step towards achieving the team’s goal of winning the FKF Premier League title for the first time. Baraza expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and adherence to his game plan. He also revealed plans to sign two or three new players during the January transfer window to compensate for injuries and bolster the team’s chances for the season.

Nzoia Sugar FC Coach Godfrey Oduor commended his players for their resilience and performance against a team of high-quality players like Bandari FC. Oduor noted the difference in the game was Nzoia’s inability to convert numerous chances created, in contrast to Bandari’s efficiency. He also stated that due to financial constraints, Nzoia Sugar FC would not be signing new players but hoped to recruit young talents from lower leagues to aid in their relegation battle.

The match was attended by notable figures, including Nominated Senator Miraj Abdillahi, Bandari officials Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak, and acting CEO Tony Kibwana.

Following this win, Bandari FC has advanced to fourth place in the league standings with 29 points from 17 matches. Conversely, Nzoia Sugar FC’s defeat leaves them languishing at the bottom of the table with 13 points after playing the same number of games.
