“Back to Sport for All 2026” Initiative Launched to Promote Health and Unity in Houet

Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of Houet Province, Somb©niwend© Nikiema, representing the High Commissioner, presided over the official launch ceremony of the "Back to School for Sport for All 2026" initiative on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Bobo-Dioulasso Administrative Building. This initiative aims to encourage regular physical activity and strengthen fraternal bonds among the province's workers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the banner of collective well-being and unity, attracting members of the constituted bodies of Houet province to the administrative building in Bobo-Dioulasso. The primary goal of this sporting event was to motivate the population, particularly the workforce, to incorporate sport into their daily routines to enhance their health and awareness, while also fostering social cohesion and national solidarity.

Representing the High Commissioner, Secretary General Somb©niwend© Niki©ma highlighted the event's importance. "This activity aims to promote sports participation in Houet Province. It also aims to create a framework for workers to practice sports individually or as a team, and of course, to strengthen their bonds of brotherhood and reinforce cohesion among the workers of Houet Province," he explained.

Comrade Somb©niwend© Niki©ma urged all active members of society and workers to support this initiative, even if only through weekly participation. "This is also an opportunity to encourage the population to participate in sports, because sports have health benefits, benefits for mental well-being, and benefits for the body," he added.

He further noted that sport is "a sector that is very important for strengthening ties between workers, and also for promoting the country's image abroad." The enthusiasm shown at the launch has prompted the representative of the High Commission of Houet Province to consider making these sporting events a permanent feature in the Guiriko region.
