Baccalaureate Candidate Numbers Decrease in Burkina Faso for 2024


OUAGADOUGOU — The upcoming baccalaureate exams in Burkina Faso, set for June 18 to July 5, 2024, will see a reduction in candidates compared to the previous year. A total of 728,264 candidates are registered for this session, which is 25,342 fewer than in 2023.



According to Burkina Information Agency, this year’s school exams and competitions began on May 2 with physical and sporting tests and will conclude on July 5 with the written and oral components of the baccalaureate. The decrease in candidates was detailed in the council’s announcement, noting the specifics of the registration numbers, including 402,602 girls and 325,662 boys.



Further, the government has announced the schedule for other educational examinations, including professional aptitude certificates and primary school certificate exams, which are also set to take place in June. The Council of Ministers reassured that all necessary materials would be delivered on time to various centers and addressed the ongoing issues with the SIGEC software to ensure its effective use during the exams.
