Aziz Foot Tournament Honors Late Footballer Aziz Zagr© with Enthralling Finale

Houet: The final of the 2nd edition of the "Aziz Foot" tournament, organized by Abdoul Aziz Zongo, took place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso. It served as a tribute to the late Burkinab¨ international footballer Aziz Zagr©, aiming to perpetuate his memory and strengthen social cohesion and bring together the youth of Sector 21.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition reached its climax with the clash between FC Mektoub and FC d'Enfer. After a hard-fought match, FC Mektoub emerged victorious with a score of 2-0. Abdoul Aziz Zongo, the initiator of this sporting event, expressed his satisfaction with how this edition unfolded.

'It's a feeling of joy because everything we had planned has come to fruition, thanks to God. Today, we can say that the tournament unfolded without any particular difficulties,' he rejoiced. Continuing, the promoter spoke emotionally about the tribute paid to their departed colleague.

'This is the least we, as friends, colleagues and brothers of Zagr©, could do for him. We shared many moments together. If he were with us tonight, he would certainly be the first to express his joy and participate in the celebration. Since God decided otherwise, the best we can do is pay him this tribute,' he said.

Arouna Drabo, a key figure in the sector, praised the social impact of the event. "I sincerely thank 'Aziz Foot' for this initiative, which helps strengthen cohesion and understanding among the residents of the neighborhood. We encourage this type of action for young people, because sport, and particularly football, are powerful unifying forces," he emphasized.

Paying tribute to him is a way of recognizing all that he contributed to this sport. We thank the organizer for this initiative, which helps to preserve his memory," he stated.
