SAABA — The awareness play “So Kill Me,” addressing the sensitive topic of incest, concluded its 21-show tour last night in the rural commune of Saaba, drawing significant community engagement and sparking discussions on the issue.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the artistic director and actress of the company Pression Artistique, the final performance was met with keen interest from the audience, indicating a strong need for awareness on incest. The play, which narrates the ordeal of a young girl victimized by her father, was performed across 21 venues, including Ouagadougou and neighboring communes like Tanghin Dassouri and Pabré, receiving robust audience participation and queries at each location.

The tour, which began in February at the National Police Academy, has been a part of a concerted effort to combat incest, with the French Institute of Ouagadougou providing financial support. The event also facilitated direct interactions between the audience and Sawadogo, where community members expressed their appreciation and requested further educational initiatives to better inform both children and adults.

Highlighting the community’s engagement, the final show in Saaba saw active participation from the ‘Protection, Mother, Child and Development’ Association, emphasizing the play’s impact in providing valuable insights and preventive measures against incest.
