Avion Gold Secures Dominant Win in High Commissioner Tuy Cup Opener

Houndé — The 9th edition of the inter-service maracana tournament, known as the High Commissioner’s Cup, launched on October 25, 2023, with Avion Gold claiming a decisive 3-0 victory over FDS/Tuy in the opening match.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Bassidiki Ouattara, who represented the High Commissioner Issiaka Segda at the event, the tournament kick-off took place in Houndé, marking the start of a series of games designed to foster unity and celebrate the workforce of the Tuy province.

Avion Gold, facing the team from FDS/Tuy, secured their win in the second half of the game, with goals scored in the 28th, 35th, and 39th minutes by players wearing bibs number 12, number 10, and number 11, respectively. The match, consisting of two 20-minute halves, set the tone for the tournament with a strong display of skill and teamwork.

The tournament features nine teams from various public, parapublic, and private sector entities within the province. These teams include FDS/Tuy, DPEPS, DPPNEF, HGO, Avion Gold, Health, ONEA/Houndé, SOFITEX/Houndé, and the High Commission/Houndé, divided into three groups. Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.

Ouattara emphasized the tournament’s role in promoting camaraderie among the workers of Tuy and fostering a spirit of cohesion with the wider community. He expressed gratitude to the directors and service heads in the province for their support of the event and encouraged all participating teams to exhibit competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
