Malanje: The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Aviation General Altino Carlos dos Santos, reaffirmed on Tuesday in Malanje the ongoing modernization and re-equipment of the National Air Force (FAN) to better fulfill its role and mission.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the General, speaking on the occasion of the National Air Force Day celebrated on January 21, emphasized that despite financial constraints imposed by the current context, the ongoing re-equipment would continue, with realistic priorities set. He expressed the FAA’s commitment to developing a strong, modern, and well-equipped National Air Force, staffed with well-trained personnel who possess a high sense of patriotism, to ensure the inviolability of the skies.
The modernization and re-equipment of the FAA are considered central and unavoidable issues. General Altino Carlos highlighted that these efforts are vital for the FAA to effectively face future challenges. He underscored that the modernization aims to defend sovereignty and territorial integrity by equipping the Defense Forces with a wide range of combat and operational capabilities, making them a decisive force in the success of various missions.
Over the past 49 years, the National Air Force has experienced significant stages of human, technical, and aeronautical development, contributing to its current size and prestige. General Altino Carlos acknowledged the contributions of the brave men of the FAN, who, with a fighting spirit and high patriotism, have consistently dedicated themselves to their homeland, even in challenging times.
The 49th anniversary of the National Air Force was marked by a ceremony at Malanje airport, attended by the provincial governor, Marcos Nhunga, and senior FAA commanders. The event included the patenting of personnel, a parade of troops, and the launch of paratroopers.
