The autumn of 2022 was the driest since 1950, with a seasonal cumulative rainfall in the 27 main stations of 1,557 mm, or only 50% of the seasonal cumulative reference of the same stations (3112 mm). A deficit was recorded at all stations except Beja and Jendouba, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).
INM’s climatological bulletin for autumn 2022 published on Tuesday showed the average temperatures of autumn 2022 in Tunisia were well above normal and the national average of the 27 main stations (23.19°C) was 1.8°C above the reference normal (1991-2020), making this autumn the second hottest after that of 2014. The latter holds the record at 1.9°C above the seasonal normal.
Average temperatures this autumn ranged from 19.1°C in Thala to 25.6°C in Tozeur.Deviations from normal ranged from 0.8°C in Tabarka to 2.8°C in Thala.
