Frankfurt—The renowned Automechanika trade fair, focused on the automotive aftermarket, launched on Tuesday, showcasing the latest trends in electrification and sustainability within the industry.

According to Messe Frankfurt, this year’s Automechanika Frankfurt has attracted around 4,200 exhibitors from approximately 80 countries, demonstrating the global reach and significance of the event. Detlef Braun, a member of the executive board of Messe Frankfurt, highlighted the fair’s extensive history and its evolving focus. “With a program richer than ever before, this event encapsulates the most pivotal trends and developments currently shaping the auto industry,” Braun stated.

The fair, which continues through September 14, features a prominent display of electric vehicle technology with over 650 exhibitors dedicated to this sector. Notably, around a dozen Chinese companies are presenting their electric vehicles, underscoring the country’s growing influence in the electric automotive market.

A special feature of this year’s fair is the Electric Vehicle Expo (EVA Expo), organized by the Automotive Sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Auto). This segment offers trade visitors the chance to engage with Chinese auto manufacturers and explore partnership opportunities. Michael Johannes, vice president of Mobility & Logistics at Messe Frankfurt, commended the exceptional efforts of Chinese colleagues in enhancing networking opportunities at the event.

Wang Xia, chairman of CCPIT Auto, emphasized the expo’s role in providing a deeper understanding of China’s rapid shift towards electric vehicles. “Our aim is to enlighten the European auto markets and industry professionals about China’s accelerated transition from traditional automobiles to a market that increasingly favors electric vehicles,” Wang explained. He urged the global automotive sector to support the development of a sustainable automotive ecosystem, fostering collaborations that benefit all stakeholders and create mutually beneficial scenarios.
