OUAGADOUGOU: A new book by Burkinabe essayist Abdoul Moumouni Ouédraogo, titled “Captain Ibrahim Traoré: Hope Regained or the Rebirth of a Disoriented People,” presents an in-depth look at the vision and leadership of Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré. The 117-page essay highlights Traoré’s dedication to restoring national sovereignty and revitalizing the country’s future.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the book offers a tribute to President Traoré, showcasing his role as a visionary leader committed to liberating Burkina Faso. On page 69, Traoré is portrayed as a devoted patriot who aims to steer the nation out of a decade-long period of challenges and into a brighter future. The narrative emphasizes his efforts to free the country from forces that have threatened its stability and hope.

The author traces the recent history of Burkina Faso, detailing past upheavals and periods of stagnation under previous leaders, before spotlighting the renewed hope that Traoré’s leadership has inspired am
ong the populace. Ouédraogo describes the book as a eulogy honoring various social classes dedicated to building a new Burkina Faso, with the current authorities leading the charge.

Ouédraogo further explains that the book serves as a reflection for citizens to assess their commitment to their country, as it highlights the resurgence of a national dream once thought lost. The book is available at the Mercury bookstore and the Thomas Sankara Memorial for 6,000 FCFA and is expected to be released in English and Mooré by the end of 2024.
